ITINERARY

TUESDAY DAY 1 – Depart for Israel - Overnight Flight

Depart for the Deluxe Jewish Israel Tour on our scheduled ELAL flight (inquire within) or via your own flight arrangements. Meals on-board

WEDNESDAY DAY 2 – Arrival in Tel Aviv

Welcome to beautiful Israel! We will arrive at Ben Gurion airport and be met and assisted by a Shalom Journeys representative before proceeding to passport control. Following passport control, we will be transferred to our hotel in coastal Tel Aviv.  Depending on our arrival time, we will enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. A day to rest up before we embark on the Deluxe Jewish Israel Tour.

EVENING: DINNER AT HOTEL

THURSDAY DAY 3 – Central Tel Aviv / Old Jaffa / Ayalon Institue

BREAKFAST: We will depart at 9:00 am today. Begin our tour with a drive by the cultural center of Tel-Aviv, viewing the Bronfman Auditorium and Habimah Theater. Then we will tour the Ayalon Institute, a secret factory camouflaged on a kibbutz producing millions of bullets for the Hagana. This was done right under the noses of the British authorities. Continue to Old Jaffa, where we walk along the ancient streets, viewing archaeological excavations and charming galleries.

EVENING: WELCOME DINNER AT LOCAL RESTAURANT

FRIDAY DAY 4 – Independence Hall / Caesarea / Atlit

BREAKFAST. Our first stop today is a visit to Independence Hall where on May 14, 1948, Israel became an independent state.  Proceed north via Netanya to Caesarea.  We visit the Crusaders’ Battlement, the Roman Theater – where concerts and cultural events take place all summer long, plus the ancient Aqueduct still standing for 2000 years. Next, an emotional visit to Atlit – a former detention compound for Jewish immigrants who arrived in Israel illegally during the British Mandate period.  Arrive at our luxurious hotel atop Mt. Carmel where we are greeted with refreshing fruit juice.

EVENING: TRADITIONAL DINNER AT HOTEL

SATURDAY DAY 5 – Haifa at Leisure

BREAKFASTSabbath at leisure. Enjoy a delightful stroll in the beautiful city of Haifa or visit a local Synagogue. Available – Optional tour to the incredible Tel Megiddo – the excavations that inspired James Michener’s book “The Source”. Next, drive to a Druze Village where we learn about their culture and customs in their environment. Browse and shop in their bustling bazaar – a fun way to end an exciting tour before returning to our hotel around 3:00 PM.

SUNDAY DAY 6 – Akko / Karmiel / Safed (Tzfat)

BREAKFAST. First stop, the Bahai Gardens then on to the ancient port city of Akko to visit the prison where members of the Haganah and Irgun were held captive during Israel’s fight for independence. Here Leon Uris’s famous novel “Exodus” was filmed. Continue to the beautiful new Jewish development town Karmiel in the Galilee. Proceed to Safed, famous art colony and center of mystic Kabbalism. See its Synagogues and picturesque cobblestone streets and art galleries before arriving at our Kibbutz, located in the lush hills of the Upper Galilee. 

EVENING: DINNER. After dinner, engage with Kibbutz members

MONDAY DAY 7 – Tel Dan / Bahat Winery / Chocolate Factory

BREAKFAST. After our Israeli breakfast, we will take a scenic drive to the mystical city of Safed. Safed is the center of Jewish mysticism. Here we will visit the ancient synagogues and walk through the artist colony. Our journey continues North to the Golan Heights to see the former Syrian bunkers, located in the city of Kuneitra. Time for some fun! Our next stop is at the Golan Winery for a tour and some wine tasting. To conclude the day, we proceed to “Golan Magic” for a multimedia presentation of the area and its history.

EVENING: DINNER AT HOTEL

TUESDAY DAY 8 – Old Gesher / Beit Shean / Sde Eliyahu

BREAKFAST. Continue to Old Gesher, located on the Jordan River and the border with Jordan, a site encompassing archaeology, ancient history, current history, the kibbutz concept, and current events. Visit Beit Shean, one of Israel’s oldest cities. Then to another wonderful site down the valley to Sde Eliyahu, a religious kibbutz that is at the forefront of eco-friendly farming and agro-industry. Continue to Jerusalem stopping on route to say the traditional “shehechiyanu” blessing.

EVENING: DINNER AT HOTEL

WEDNESDAY DAY 9 – Old City of Jerusalem

Breakfast. Begin the tour of the Old City of Jerusalem; visit the Jewish and Christian quarters; walk through the Cardo, the reconstructed main street of Byzantine Jerusalem. Visit the Wailing Wall. Continue to the City of David and explore the excavations of the first temple period; learn the story of ancient Jerusalem as you tour the Western Wall tunnels; discover the hidden layers of the walls revealed underground. Return to your hotel to freshen up and get ready for your night out.

EVENING: DINNER ON YOUR OWN – followed by the Spectacular night show at Tower of David Museum.

THURSDAY DAY 10 – Israel Museum / Yad Vashem / Machane Yehuda Market

BREAKFAST. We will begin the day with a visit to the Israel Museum, the shrine of the book where the Dead Sea scrolls are housed. Furthermore, we will see the new holy land model, a miniature replica of Jerusalem as it was during the second temple period. Continue for a tour at the Knesset, Israel’s parliament and see the Menorah with the biblical emblems. We will now visit Yad Vashem for an emotional tour of a dark past. Proceed to experience the contemporary Jerusalem at the famous Mahane Yehuda market with its authentic and colorful stands; Enjoy the “Shuk Bites” and taste a variety of local food. Return back to the hotel for the remainder of the day at leisure.

PM: COCKTAIL AND DINNER PARTY

FRIDAY DAY 11 – Dead Sea / Massada / Ein Gedi

EARLY BREAKFAST. Proceed through the ancient Judean desert; stop at the majestic Ein Gedi nature reserve and explore the lush oasis filled with waterfalls, vegetation, and rare wildlife. Continue to Massada and ascend by cable car to the top of the ancient fortress; visit the remains of the walls, palaces, synagogue, bathhouses and more. We will descend by cable car back to the bottom of the mountain. Next, we will stop for lunch by the Dead Sea and make use of the spa facilities in one of the leading hotels in the area. Return back to Jerusalem to freshen up.

EVENING: TRADITIONAL DINNER AT HOTEL

SATURDAY DAY 12 – Day at Leisure in Jerusalem

BREAKFAST. Today we will get to experience Jerusalem on Shabbat. Feel the ambiance and mellow mood of the city during the day of rest. In the evening, just a few steps from our hotel, explore Jerusalem as it brings in the new week.

EVENING: DINNER ON YOUR OWN

SUNDAY DAY 13 – Day at Leisure / Departure Home

EARLY BREAKFAST. Following our last breakfast and after making lifelong memories of Israel, we will be transferred to Ben Gurion Airport for our departure back home.

Day 13: Eilat Extension / Flight

BREAKFAST. After breakfast, we will depart the group for our extension in Eilat. Arrive at the local airport for our round trip flight to Eilat. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

EVENING: ON YOUR OWN

Day 14: At Leisure or Petra, Jordan Extension

Breakfast. Enjoy the day at leisure. 

Petra Extension: Following breakfast, with the assistance of a visa at the Jordanian border, drive straight to Petra, the astonishing rose-red city built by the Nabateans (An early Arab tribe). Petra was renowned for its massive architecture, pools, dams and water channels. Moreover, the city itself is almost 45 square km and is considered to be the second wonder of the world. Following the visit, time for lunch in a nice restaurant. After lunch, we will drive back to the border. Furthermore, a short visit to Aqaba with the possibility to stop and take a walk around. To conclude the day, transfer to the border at around 18:00 p.m and crossing back into Eilat, Israel.

Day 15: Flight to Tel Aviv and Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport
